What’s Next for San Angelo Data Centers? George P. Bush Says All Three Unlikely to Be Built

Local leaders and developers gathered in San Angelo Tuesday to discuss the future of data centers in Tom Green County and across Texas. The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce hosted the event at the Cactus Hotel, featuring former Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, Google energy executive Doug Lewin, Chamber President and CEO Steve Ahlenius, and Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Joe Esparza. Bush said it’s unlikely all three proposed county data centers will be built and said issues including water, electricity, noise and economic development will likely drive new legislation when lawmakers return to Austin in January 2027. He also said other states may look to Texas as a model for regulating the rapidly growing industry.
