United Way of the Concho Valley Addresses Internal Matter, Affirms Commitment to Community
San Angelo, TX — June 24, 2026 — United Way of the Concho Valley (UWCV) today confirmed that it has taken decisive action following awareness of allegations involving the misuse of organizational resources by a former employee.
The matter was identified through internal processes, and the organization acted immediately to protect its operations and the integrity of donor funds. The individual involved has been separated from the organization.
The matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities, and UWCV is fully cooperating with law enforcement as the review of the allegations continues.
“Our responsibility to this community is something we take very seriously,” said Todd Smith, Chair of the UWCV Board of Directors. “As soon as concerns were brought to our attention, the Board moved quickly to address the situation, safeguard resources, and begin a thorough review.”
At this time, the organization believes the allegations to be isolated to a single individual.
United Way leadership emphasized that services and funding to partner agencies are continuing without interruption. All partner agencies will continue to receive full funding, and programs supporting individuals and families across the Concho Valley will continue.
“Our mission has not changed,” Smith added. “The work our partners are doing every day remains strong, and we are committed to ensuring that continues.”
The Board of Directors is working with United Way of Texas and external professionals to review financial processes and strengthen internal controls where needed.
Because this is an active matter with legal and personnel considerations, additional details are limited at this time. UWCV has committed to transparency and will provide updates as appropriate.
“This situation does not reflect the values of our organization or the dedication of our staff, board, volunteers, partner agencies, and donors,” Smith said. “We remain focused on accountability, integrity, and serving this community.”
