Keep San Angelo Beautiful is celebrating a successful Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event that kept thousands of pounds of waste out of the environment. Organizers say volunteers, community partners, and residents helped collect more than 12,000 pounds of household hazardous waste, along with over a ton each of electronic waste and paper for secure shredding. Crews also collected more than 5,600 pounds of used oil and automotive fluids and nearly 8,000 plastic bags for recycling. Event organizers say those efforts help prevent hazardous materials from ending up in landfills and waterways. Keep San Angelo Beautiful thanked the City of San Angelo, Tom Green County, local businesses, and dozens of volunteers who helped make the event possible. Organizers say the community’s support is helping create a cleaner and greener San Angelo.
