San Angelo anglers will soon have more chances to reel in a catch close to home. Texas Parks and Wildlife will be stocking channel catfish in the North Concho River downtown between Oakes and Irving Streets. The fish will be added every two weeks through the end of October, with a short break during August. Officials say the Neighborhood Fishin’ program is designed to make fishing more accessible in urban areas. Adults will need a fishing license, but kids 17 and under can fish for free. TPWD says it’s a great way to introduce families to fishing right in the city.
