The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office says 24‑year‑old Timothy Rankin was found safe Saturday afternoon after a massive 32‑hour search. Rankin had walked away from a monastery while experiencing personal hardship, prompting concerns for his safety and triggering a multi‑agency search across rugged terrain near Allen Road and Chula Vista Lane. Teams from DPS, Parks and Wildlife, San Angelo police and fire, and multiple volunteer fire departments joined deputies on the ground and in the air, using ATVs, drones, and aircraft to cover the area. Texas Search and Rescue was en route to assist but stood down once Rankin was located in a remote part of the county. He is now receiving care, and Sheriff Nick Hanna said the rescue showed how quickly agencies unite when someone is in danger.
