Angelo State football is ranked #6 in the nation in both Division 2 national polls. The Rams climbed up two spots after their 31-20 win over Eastern New Mexico. The #6 ranking is the highest national for Angelo State football since September 5th, 2023 when the Rams were ranked #4 nationally. Two other Lone star Conference teams are ranked. UT-Permian Basin, who’s coming to San Angelo to play ASU on October 4th, is ranked #7 in the country by d2football.com and UTPB is #11 in the coaches poll. Central Washington is ranked #17 in the nation.
Angelo State had two players honored by the Lone Star Conference this week. ASU defensive lineman Owen Seaver is the LSC defensive player of the week. Seaver had three tackles for a loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery in the Rams’ win over Eastern New Mexico. ASU’s Zeek Freeman is the LSC special teams player of the week after Freeman returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown. It was ASU’s first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2023. The Rams return home Saturday for Family Day, hosting Western New Mexico. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
