With warmer weather settling into West Texas, experts say rattlesnakes are becoming more active across the Concho Valley. San Angelo State Park officials report recent sightings along trails and rocky areas. Park Superintendent Michael Leon says snakes are simply warming themselves and are not aggressive unless startled. Most bites happen when people don’t see a snake or try to handle one. Visitors are encouraged to wear closed‑toe shoes and watch where they step or place their hands. Anyone bitten should call 911 immediately.
