About 50 people gathered at Howard College in San Angelo last week to learn the basics of beekeeping during a hands‑on introductory class. The three‑hour course combined classroom instruction with a close‑up look at live beehives, giving beginners a practical feel for what it takes to start. Instructor Jeremy Granado, owner of Granado Honey, led the session and shared his six years of experience managing hives around the area. The class covered bee roles, hive equipment, feeding, and pest control, before participants suited up and handled frames full of bees. Granado said the bees have been unusually calm this season, making it a great time for newcomers to learn. Several attendees, including Biviana and Kevin Ramos, said the class helped them feel more prepared before starting their own hives.
