Texas emergency officials will conduct a statewide test of public warning systems this week. The Texas Division of Emergency Management says the drill will be held on April 2nd and will check the effectiveness of local alerting tools used during severe weather and other emergencies. Schools, universities, law enforcement agencies, and local governments are being asked to participate. Officials say regular testing helps identify problems before disasters strike. Agencies will report back on what worked and what didn’t. Residents may hear sirens or receive alerts as part of the test.
