Local leaders gathered Thursday as Meals for the Elderly kicked off its Community Champions celebration as part of the national March for Meals campaign, which raises awareness about senior hunger and isolation.
Among the 2026 honorees was Alma V from the KIXY Morning Show, recognized for helping support the organization’s mission. Longtime volunteer Carol Santry was also named Honorary Community Champion.
Meals for the Elderly prepares and delivers more than 600 meals every weekday to homebound seniors across San Angelo and the Concho Valley. The organization relies heavily on volunteers and community support to keep the program running.
