Several schools and universities in San Angelo are closed early today, Tuesday, March 10, as officials monitor the potential for severe weather moving into West Central Texas later in the day.
Forecasts indicate the possibility of strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, bringing threats that could include heavy rain, large hail, damaging winds, and possibly isolated tornadoes. Out of an abundance of caution, school districts and local colleges made the decision to cancel classes to keep students, staff, and families safe.
San Angelo ISD lists the following dismissal times in a post made to Facebook:
- Elementary School Dismissal: 2 p.m.
- Middle School Dismissal: 2:30 p.m.
- High School Dismissal: 3 p.m.
TLCA San Angelo will also close early today, announcing a 2:30 p.m. closure for all campuses.
Residents are urged to remain weather aware throughout the day and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts if severe storms develop across the Concho Valley.
