A “No Kings” protest is scheduled for San Angelo on Saturday, June 14. This is part of a nationwide day of protests that will be happening. The San Angelo protest is scheduled to be held at Civic League Park, 2 S Park St., and to run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. According to the No Kings website, this protest is to “reject authoritarianism- and show the world what democracy is.” The groups stresses that no weapons of any kind are allowed at the protest. The governor of Texas is deploying the National Guard across the state in anticipation of anti-ICE protests. In a post on X last night, Greg Abbott said, “Peaceful protest is legal. Harming a person or property is illegal and will lead to arrest.” He went on to say the National Guard will “use every tool and strategy to help law enforcement maintain order.”
