As a result, legitimate winners using the same service, like one woman who lost her chance at a prize, were also affected. This controversy has led to a lawsuit from lotto.com, a courier service, claiming the Texas Lottery Commission doesn’t have the authority to ban such services. Meanwhile, a bill is making its way through the Texas Senate that would make using courier services to play the lottery illegal, though it still needs to pass the House and be signed by Governor Greg Abbott.
